Join the biography project. I am writing biographies of all kinds of people. They are as thorough and deep as the subjects wish, and they can be written as anonymous or with your name on it.
And now the biography…
I. BRIAN THE ART MODEL
In today’s biography series we meet Brian, an art model and engineer in the Northeast of the United States. He was born in New Jersey, he’s played in cover bands, and works as an engineer project manager. He is also a professional nude model, who recently turned sixty.
In 2011, at Burning Man Brian’s life took an unexpected turn. Burning Man is a large desert festival in Northern Nevada on a dried lake bed. The festival brings artists and rebellious partiers from all around who want to camp out. It is a place known for its crazy art displays, nudity, and counter-culture. While at this festival, Brian was following an artist friend to a camp tent hosting figure drawing with live models. The time they went, the model was unavailable, and so the bribes began with beer and encouragements. Eventually, Brian decided to pose. He posed nude for the first time and discovered he had a passion for life modeling i.e. a person who models nude for artists. Since then, he has posed hundreds of times.
After posing at the art tent at Burning Man he was approach by an artist and her seventy-ish mother-in-law, who wanted to take photos with a naked man. He agreed to pose for photos as he decided he was now a model. He says he has the photos to this day. One can suppose a new life opportunity up that day, and another person achieved a bucket list item. Of course, this raises the question, would you be so brave? Tell us in the comments.
Brian keeps active as a model. He actively tracks down leads, networks, and offers the advice to other life models that they should take “every gig” offered within reason of course. He has as many as fifteen emails or calls a day for modeling- all while also working as an engineering project manager. He has posed at least 350 times since burning man, and has worked at 15 venues.
Brian explains that life modeling gives him great peace and joy. He can’t fully put words to it, but it gives him a great feeling, and that feeling motivates him to do all the leg work required to consistently get modeling opportunities to pose for.
Brian writes his own songs as hobby. He’s played bass in cover bands featuring music such as Rock, R&B, funk, disco, and pop. These bands have typically been between three and six members. In professional life he works as an engineer at a small firm. In college he studied business and engineering.
He is a Leo. Leo’s are know to be actors and on stage persons, so it is fitting a life model is a Leo. Leo’s like attention and entreating hence we see a musician.
Commentary on the Bio
Okay, my comments, like the prior biography we have another professional here, engineer who has an artistic side and unique hobbies music and figure arts. Too often we over look and have little conversation on all the hobbies and passions that people have outside of their work-family- normal life.
