I. Interview
Today we meet J.B who got into art modeling three years ago as a hobby. At the time he was struggling with body image issues. So far the experience has helped him be more comfortable in his own body, his body image and boosts to his confidence. He also finds it freeing and erotic.
His first adventure with posing was through Instagram, with an artist. The experience went well, as he recalls the artists helped him get over his nerves. He continued to model more. He mainly models for individual artists, and has on occasion done duo poses with another model. He remarks that being naked in front of strangers has helped him love his body even more, especially after seeing the art made.
J.B has a preference for one on one sessions. He finds these more comfortable and intimate, and that it allows the artists and himself to have more freedom in poses, and art work. Some the art pieces he models for included artistic erotic art. Erotic art is a preference of his to model for, even though it does require particular attention on certain areas and themes.
It was good to interview J.B as more erotic artists side of the figure art equation. Views vary on this from nudity as natural as the grass- to those who view it more sensual like J.B. I like a quote that its all encompassing both sides i.e the natural and the erotic, and I have lost who said that. Erotic art has its place and its certainly an element of art. J.B also enjoys erotic modeling, as he finds it very freeing, and quite the experience.
A side thought of mine is how people can really vary on figure art and the erotic. Some who claim its just natural to draw the nude, nothing erotic to those who only make erotic art. The differences and the passion for the differences can be quite something to see. I feel like too many rules puts artificial constraints on art.
J.B’s interview also raises questions about the male in figure art, mostly why are drawings with a certain focus on an area that may enlarge with blood flow erotic? It’s also a natural part of the body- and its a masculine area, and has a lot of artistic thoughts that can be had. What are your thoughts?
In J.B’s spare time he bakes, mostly cakes. But he will not be taking on the Great British Baking Show as that is too intense. And speaking of British, he lives in Manchester which he spent a good bit of time explaining a little bit about.
He works a full time job in tech, builds websites and apps. He like the job as it is stable, provides a good lifestyle, but its very mundane, and not creative.
